"This is the first stage of my self-portrait
working with my Monday Class,
We are all wearing my prop hat"~ F. Christian
|
Ms Christian has introduced the prop of a large, floppy hat to the project. Each member of the class is painting her own portrait wearing this hat, including Mrs. Christian.
“I am always trying to find ways to encourage students to try a new subject in painting. In doing a self portrait there are so many things involved that are not normally required: very subtle colors for skin tones, searching for the minute difference that identifies one person from another, etc. Then we throw in a big floppy hat just for fun and our paintings become personal and a new tool for teaching basics.” ~Fern Christian.
