Renaissance Gallery
Any drawing or painting is a two dimensional representation
of a three dimensional scene, whether it be a portrait, landscape or still
life. The subject may stretch across a table, a room, the yard or to the
horizon, but is reproduced on the single plane of paper or canvas. Adding depth
to the reproduction increases the representation of reality. The work becomes
more alive, more lifelike and gives more sense of being there.
Workshop will focus on the use of Linear Perspective in the
creating art or illustrations of three dimensional subjects in a two
dimensional drawing or painting – how to draw things so that appear to be solid
objects and not flat objects and how to relate them to each other.
The workshop will cover:

Principles of Linear Perspective – horizon lines and
vanishing points. One, two and three point perspective. Indoors and Outdoors.

Application to common shapes often found in drawings
and paintings.
·
Advanced uses – measuring in perspective
·
Other depth enhancement techniques – Aerial
perspective, value, layering and others.
We will have examples and exercises to recognize the requirements
of perspective and show how to apply it.
Materials will be provided. Cost: $25 space is limited to
pre-registration is recommended.
Workshop will be taught by local artist, Ron Haeberle.
Ron is an award winning fine artist known for his exquisite
and detailed renderings of down town Huntington. Ron Haeberle began painting as
a retirement pastime in 2003, studying watercolor at the Huntington Museum of
Art in Huntington West Virginia. His work includes landscapes, seascapes,
portraits and architectural studies. The landscapes are largely drawn from the
natural beauty of his native West Virginia farms, forests and streams, and from
the coastal low country area of South Carolina, a favorite family vacation
spot.
He is a juried member of the Tri-State Arts Association in
Huntington WV, The Renaissance Gallery Huntington WV, and the Fine Art Gallery
– Tamarack in Beckley, WV. He has participated in a number of art exhibitions
and shows including the bi-annual TSSA juried exhibition at the Huntington
Museum of Art and the juried “Best of West Virginia” exhibit at Tamarack. His
work has received a number of awards and he has completed a several pieces of
commissioned work.
